A while ago, I came across an experiment on YouTube where someone decided to drink only water and avoid every other drink. I thought, why not give it a try myself?
My first attempt lasted 13 days before I broke the streak. But during those 13 days, I noticed some great results.
Of course, sticking to it wasn’t easy. I’m used to drinking around three cups of coffee a day, along with milk tea. I also work shifts, which doesn’t exactly help when it comes to caffeine consumption.
My sleep had been pretty messed up for a while, so I started looking into how caffeine affects sleep and mood. That gave me another reason to restart the experiment.
This time, I made it to 42 days without coffee and other drinks besides water before slowly introducing decaf coffee to see what would happen.
And here’s where things got interesting.
Even decaf seemed to affect my sleep. I started experiencing fatigue, broken sleep, and what felt like shorter periods of deep sleep.
At this point, my own experience has given me a pretty strong reason to take caffeine seriously. I’m not saying this proves everyone will react the same way, but for me, the difference was noticeable enough that I couldn’t just ignore it.
It’s easy to dismiss things you read online, but sometimes trying something yourself gives you a completely different perspective.
If you’re struggling with poor sleep, low energy, or a bad mood, why not try drinking only water for a week and see how you feel?
You might notice changes in your energy, motivation, sleep, or mood. Everyone is different, of course, but you won’t know how it affects you until you give it a fair shot.
As for me, I’m restarting my no-coffee streak. Let’s see how long I can keep it going this time!
