Why Buy DVDs Over Blu-rays in 2024

When it comes to buying movies, many people wonder whether DVDs or Blu-rays are the better option. While Blu-rays are a newer technology and offer higher quality video and audio, there are still several reasons why someone might choose to buy DVDs instead.

Firstly, DVDs are generally cheaper than Blu-rays. If you’re on a tight budget, DVDs are a more affordable option for building up your movie collection.

Secondly, not all movies are available on Blu-ray. While most new releases are available in both formats, there are still some older or more obscure movies that are only available on DVD.

Thirdly, not everyone has a Blu-ray player. While this is becoming less of an issue as more people upgrade their home theater systems, there are still plenty of households that only have DVD players. If you’re buying a movie as a gift, it might be safer to stick with the DVD format to ensure that the recipient can actually watch it.

Fourth, Quality. So, Blu rays are high-def at 1080p, but don’t sweat it if you’re still watching stuff on a regular old 480p DVD. Honestly, most people won’t even notice the difference. Plus, some movies, like Back to the Future, actually look cooler with that slightly lower res, giving them that classic retro vibe. And don’t even get me started on the Batman Animated Series. The Blu-ray version is just too clean and polished, totally taking away from that gritty, dark Batman feel.

Okay, next up is the Box Art. Gotta say, DVDs usually have the coolest artwork and packaging. I mean, sure, the Game of Thrones set on Blu-Ray is pretty sweet, but most of the time it’s the DVD that takes the cake.

In conclusion, while Blu-rays are undeniably the superior format in terms of video and audio quality, DVDs still have their place in the movie world. Their lower cost, wider availability, and compatibility with more devices make them a viable option for anyone looking to expand their movie collection.

Amazing Batman Suits from across the web

Batman_logoLets face it, everybody loves Batman. I grew up in the 90s and to this day fail to find a single hater. Batman was done and redone in all sort of stuff ranging from movies to games and everything in between. As years go by, Batman change. Today I will be posting my favorite Bat suits from across the web. Keep in mind; I don’t own the pictures, I just post them. No copyright infringement intended. Links to image’s source included.

Now that we set the record straight lets move on to the suits them self.

The Evil looking Batman is a skin for the Batman Arkham games if I’m not mistaken. What I like about it is the way it was detailed. Everything looks real and kinda technical. The Evil eyes and mouth also add to the overall scare. I cant imagine this suit on a good Batman, only the Evil version.

batman_and_robinThe Batman and Robin suit. I don’t know about you but this suit has the 90s written all over it. A mix with the white gives it some beauty in my book. Not many would agree as Batman and Robin was regarded as one of the worst movies of all time. I don’t remember it being that bad but then again its probably for the best.

Even though Arkham Origins was a quick game and nowhere near the quality of Arkham City, the game managed to score an awesome bat suit. A present day Batman Suit, whats not to like?

darkh_knight

Another Batman Movie suit? The Dark Knight easily ended up being one of my faivorte and realist looking for that matter. A well done suit and a well done movie which I first hated but learned to love and respect.

arkhamknight

Wait a minute, that’s NOT Batman! I know but it being shaped as the Bat makes it a bat suit. For the ones that don’t know, this is actually the evil batman villain in the upcoming Batman game Arkham Knight. The techno evil shaped suit takes the cake in this post. The perfect combine of clors, material and technical feel makes it the top of this list.

What do you think?

Mad Max Fury Road

mad max fury road

Oh man, where do I even begin? The tittle says it all; a new Mad Max is coming and it is glorious! In case you don’t know what I’m talking about or haven’t watched any of the previous Mad Max movies, do yourself a favor and order this:

mad max trilogy

Now that the educational lesson is over, lets talk about Fury Road. Set shorty after the events of the third movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdom, Max will be facing a new gang with Imperator Furiosa as the boss who wants to cross the desert and reach her childhood homeland. Two rebels on the run are rumored to be able to somehow restore order and that’s what I like the most about this upcoming post apocalypse movie; Hope. See, Max 2 and 3 were about surviving and nothing more. Don’t get me wrong, the movies were excellent with the exception of the first part which I found to be boring.

This time around, we are expecting a twist; Something new, something hope related with possible a good ending. To be honest, I would love to see a happy ending in a post apocalypse movie and seeing as how the last two parts ended, something different is expected. From what is seen in the trailer, allot of action with strange cars and humans hanging on top. Blood thirsty gangs with fast cars, typical Mad Max drama.

But what makes me rejoice the most is that this film is set after the events of the third part and not in between two and three as originally intended. I hate prequels and find them pointless as we already know the ending and seeing the saga continue makes me happy.

To the people who haven’t seen the trilogy, I suggest doing so before watching this so you are up to speed on whats happening. I will say this again and again; I’m so happy that they finally decided to shoot it after years of doubt and cancellation. Mad Max deserves a proper ending and may I add, a Happy one.

Take a look at the trailer bellow to get exited as I am. Cant wait for 2015.

The Walking Dead Season 5 ep1 Review

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is king of zombie movies, no question asked but the show got little repetitive for me and I started to lose hope. Season 5 brought back danger, action and with it mayhem, but was it good enough? For starters I would like to point the obvious spoiler alert. Now, The Walking Dead was always about danger from Zombies AND Humans alike picturing a perfect post apocalypses world where everything and everyone is trying to kill you. I was happy when The boring and annoying Governor finally got killed, although I wasn’t happy with the person who killed him or how he was killed but that’s another topic.

Any way, when the prison was overrun and they got nowhere to go, I go excited that we will now move forward instead of the same thing over and over. When the guy with the supposed cure showed up, I got even more excited as I was looking forward for a twist. The final thing that got me nervous was the Terminus, an evil looking place. Season 5 came and with it Terminus only to be a generic, quick story with little to no emotion. Now that the place is destroyed which happened too fast if you ask me, that leaves me with another thing to worry about; Governor 2.0.

Dear God, please don’t let this be the same stuff again, the surviving boss of the Terminus will reform and hunt down the survives. Rick said that he will finish off the reaming of the gang but I’m still not sure if he will actually do it or is it just for the sake of drama.

Dont get me wrong, the action was good and I’m glad the group is back together but I’m expecting new and creative storytelling this time around. I want them to get to Washington DC and actually manage to find the cure. Applying it is a different story and a new adventure.

the walking dead season 5

Another thing that I wish would happen but highly unlikely is: A boss. A Resident Evil nemesis like boss. This can only happen if the story is shifted to a company creating a virus that infects people for military use but seeing how the current story is going this is highly unlikely. The Walking Dead is trying to stay as realistic as possible and I understand that but it is a Zombie show and things need to happen. If you want a realistic post apocalypse movie, go watch The Road. Back to my main point; We are now at Season 5, meaning at least half way to the end assuming it will get 10 seasons. Up to this point, there were no -in my opinion- ground breaking shocking moment and the show feels like its going nowhere at times.

I’m no script writer or movie director although I directed home made movies and edited allot of my Skating clips but as a fan and zombie/science geek I cant help but feel more can be achieved. I also think that the show should start getting more aggressive like the comic. Yes I haven’t read them all but from what I did the deaths and general story feels more aggressive although I could be just imagining things if that makes scenes.

I know we are just at the start of the season but future episodes should be just as action and story orientated as the first one. No more meaningless episodes until the final one aka season 3. Rant and hopes aside, The Walking Dead is an overall well done show and I really enjoyed it and will continue to watch it although in my opinion, Lost is still the greatest show ever made minus the stupid ending.

Any way, let me know what you think..

Thanks

Lights off, Football Manager is coming to the big screen

Football_Manager_2015_Sega

That’s right, Sega Football Manager is coming to cinemas on October 7th.

“The documentary isn’t our story – it’s the story of the people who escape to the alternative reality of being a football manager, and the effect this has had on their lives. It’s also the story of how a computer game made by football fans has become a part of the world it set out to replicate,” says Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive. “But it’s not just for people who play – it’s also for people who’ve ever wondered why others spend so much time escaping into this world.”

Not sure if serious but this could be fun to watch. A documentary on a football game. Wasn’t expecting this at all.

Ben Affleck and Batman drama

Its been sometime since the initial storm but people and websites are still reporting and discussing this supposed issue. Ben Affleck is not a good placement for batman, Ben Affleck is a bad actor, Ben Affleck killed my Dog, etc…

Affleckb

Well, the truth is; we wont know until we watch the upcoming Batman vs Superman movie which is in my opinion a bad idea in itself. I admit, I don’t follow Hollywood and actors but one thing is for sure: I will watch the movie regardless if its Ben Affleck or John Cena. People will watch it. Now I understand that some are worried that should the movie doesn’t sell well it will be an end to Batman movies. Incorrect kind sir, there will always be future batman movies by some one.

Back at the day, everybody was worried that the Heath Ledger would not fit as the joker and now he is being worshiped. Give the guy a chance, if not another guy will make a batman movie sooner or later. They may even produce part 2 without taking into consideration the ratings of the first. Who knows?!

BenAffleckBatmanMy point will always stand; don’t judge an incomplete project. Take Mad max for example, Mel Gibson will no longer be starring in the upcoming Mad Max 4 yet you don’t see starting a witch hunt regardless of how sad I feel that the legendary Max is changed. A new guy may even be better and needed.

One last point before I forget and its a big one: I did not like the current Batman Alfred stars. Batman looks too young and alfred too fat, regardless I enjoyed the movies. Watch the movie, not the actors.

Thank you for reading.

The Purge: Anarchy is comming

The_Purge_–_Anarchy_PosterJust as I was about to complain of no good movies, this came right into my face. With the release date tomorrow (July 18, 2014) I’m surprised how I missed it. I managed to read the intro plot on wiki and I must say I am little disappointed. Take a read (is it even a word?) at the spoiler free plot yourself before I explain why.

The Purge is a night where all crime is legal and all hospitals, fire stations, poison control centers and police stations in the United States are closed down for 12 hours. In 2023, a year after The Purge of 2022, a couple named Shane and Liz, are driving to one of their sister’s house in Los Angeles to wait out the Purge when their car runs out of gas just as the Purge commences, and they flee from masked attackers on motorcycles and minibikes. Meanwhile, Leo Barnes goes out into the streets to get revenge on the man who killed his son, and a mother and daughter, Eva and Cali, run into the night after an unknown group of well-equipped assailants break into their tenement. The five people meet up as they attempt to survive the night.

Now back to my point; The first purge left more questions than answers wit ha potential part 2. Instead, we get a totally different story with the not so original story. Family’s car breaks down, even murders appear, family try to survive. Whats new in that? Although IGN claims the movie is more developed and organized than the first part, I’m yet to be convinced myself.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on the movie; I’m simply saying that I was expecting the story to continue instead of a random spin off of the name. I may be jumping the gun and will probably regard the above but until I see it for myself I will always have doubt regarding the story.

I am hoping for answers to at least some of the burning questions left by the first part although it is unlikely that anything linked to the first movie will be talked about. Lets see.

Will update you all when I manage to see it.
