Window Media PC Remote Control final bought

For years my eBay watch list had an important item that for some strange reason kept on sleeping till this morning. The Wireless Window Media MCE PC Remote Control.

This item is very important even though I have a media box along with a hard drive supported TV that can load movies off it. Never the less, I can now use my PC from the comfort of my bed and by use I’m not talking about graphics editing. I can now watch movies, play music or start downloads. A simple thing can make the difference. Awaiting the arrival patiently.

Using Firefox for a week

My browser history is not that different from the average dude, with one small exception. Unlikely most my first non IE browser was Opera and not Firefox. With the increase compatibility problems namely GameFAQs.com I got tiered of opera (It was paid product) and switched to Firefox.

Years later Google chrome came out and after a year or so I finally switched. Now I am perfectly happy with chrome but as a tech guy (mind if I call myself that?) I like to explore and learn so I will switch and use Firefox for one week starting tonight.

firefoxOne thing I noticed off the bat is that the spell check is not the same level of chrome’s version. Understandable with Google products to have the best spell and voice to text but Firefox need to catch.

I am starting with no addons except a theme and Adblock plus. Don’t mind the greasy monkey as its not used. Will report back after a week on the matter.

Blackberry Passport impression

Let me tell the story by starting out with my smart phone history. As most around my area, I too jumped on the legacy Blackberry curve. The BBM made life new and easy. Adding people were exciting and new, texting free 24? Where do I sign?

Years passed and I made the switch to the iPhone, an amazing phone but too strict for its own good. I then triad the Samsung Galaxy Note II which broke in a year lol. Now I’m back on iPhone 5S and thinking to give HTC One a go. That until Blackberry passport was announced.

I admit I did not give the device any importance at first, but as more and more news surfaced I reconsidered. I admit I love jailbroken IOS and think BBOS 10 is a downgrade but with the new system update and features I may give it ago if and only if the price is right.

PlayStation TV?

The upcoming PlayStation TV which can be preordered from Amazon will make its way out on December 1, 2014. To be honest I’m not sure how I feel, on one hand this Device will rival the useless Apple TV and the new Amazon box as well as have the extra of playing PS one games and even streaming PS3/PS4 as well as playing PSP Vita.

On the other hand, the main propose of the TV device is to play movies and music which I’m not so sure about just yet. How much will a single movie cost to buy/rent? How much is available? What is the DRM like? I for one cant use this or any PlayStation network product as I have a total of three user names each of a story of its own and Sony wont let you change the region.

What I’m trying to say: This product may be good on paper but in realty? We are yet to see.

Selfie Stand?

Ok, I was never a selfie fan, nor am I now but the stand caught my attention at the mall which resulted in immediate buy of not so cheap $65 iPhone selfie/stand. I was looking for something like this for sometime but never bothered ordering it online. The main use of curse would be making youtube videos or even skating/other activities.

Testing the thing with my iPhone 5S front camera. Excuse the messy place as I was moving things around and did not bother cleaning up the place for the picture -_-

Google Drive increased space for less

I admit I was little late but made the jump to online storage (Dropbox) and even though it is still my main and favorite online backup solution, Google Drive steped up its game by offering more for less. Bellow is the recent price chart.

I must admit that the above prices are hard to beat and with increase file size per everything these days I’m thinking to go 1 TB via Drive. Competition is always a good thing.

IOS 7 Jailbreak is here, BUT

I personal will hold off for a few days until the storm blows and everything will be visible. The need for Jailbreak is becoming less with every IOS update but not completely out as there are tons of addons that not only enhance the visuals but make the life of an iPhone owner easier.

My next smart phone upgrade

As with every year, my carrier contract expire this month meaning new phone is available for upgrade. The question is, which one?

I was impressed with the new IOS7 and once I installed it on my iPhone 4s I immediately realized that I need a newer iPhone if I want things to be smooth. On the other hand, I got tiered of my Note 2 and its dimensions as typing with one hand is a pain and what better Android than the new HTC One? Lastly, I saw Xperia Z with a friend and strangely liked its feature of use any pen and the full HD screen.

I will most likely give my old phone to a member of the family thus the reason to decided if my next phone will be from apple or android so I can give the older version away. Will update you with my decision.
