Finally arrived. Wanted to grab these for some time now.
My next smart phone upgrade
As with every year, my carrier contract expire this month meaning new phone is available for upgrade. The question is, which one?
I was impressed with the new IOS7 and once I installed it on my iPhone 4s I immediately realized that I need a newer iPhone if I want things to be smooth. On the other hand, I got tiered of my Note 2 and its dimensions as typing with one hand is a pain and what better Android than the new HTC One? Lastly, I saw Xperia Z with a friend and strangely liked its feature of use any pen and the full HD screen.
I will most likely give my old phone to a member of the family thus the reason to decided if my next phone will be from apple or android so I can give the older version away. Will update you with my decision.
Real reason for BBM delay?
Its no secret that one of the biggest world wide tech disappointment accrued yesterday, the BBM launch cancellation.
Despite the extreme hype and rumors followed by official statement of the release date, BlackBerry failed to live up to yet another promise. After hours of strange silence, Blackberry came with a statement that an unofficial leaked BBM made its way to over 1 million consumers resulting in issues which in turn resulted in the cancellation of the launch.
Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already – more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app – is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day.
Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. The unreleased Android app will be disabled, and customers who downloaded it should visitwww.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability.
As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone. Please follow @BBM on Twitter for the latest updates and go to www.BBM.com to sign-up for updates about BBM for Android and iPhone. These issues have not impacted BBM service for BlackBerry.
How and what issues did the unofficial app cause? Did BlackBerry not except this huge download rate? My personal take on the above after reading some comments and thinking it over:
There were no issues, instead BlackBerry purposely leaked the version to see if the app would live up to the peps expectation. The reaction was not of what they expected thus resulting in the above statement blaming the public while buying some time. The no further date only adds to the theory.
Scenario 2, is that the server couldn’t handle the large load so instead of admitting a mistake the blame was put on the public.
How did the unofficial beta app made its way out only hours before official release? What damage did it cause? In any case, the disappointment was huge and may even be the final nail in the coffin of the dying company. Its mistakes like that that pulled them down from the top.
Empty promises and no solid release dates.
Using iPhone without cover
The recent IOS7 redesign made me remove the much needed cover exposing my iPhone 4s to danger but damn, the design is beautiful and with the new them it looks sweeter than ever. Of course the this may also be due that my phone upgrade is soon so I’m not that worried about it although I will likely get HTC One.
IOS 7 impressions
IOS 7 finally arrived and while it took some time to download and install due to servers overload I must say the wait was worth it. First of all, the design while in some areas not so great is amazing. The IOS needed change and what better way than a full makeover? Now I know pretty colors don’t make a great OS but the new IOS got some important under the hood improvements. The best thing is the new multitask preview as you can now go to the app switcher and it will show whats going on in each app. Beware, this drains the battery faster than anything you ever seen, thankfully an option to turn this off is there.
The new OS runs slower on old hardware, in my case the iPhone 4s but still usable and while not all new features are available on old hardware it is still enough to upgrade. One last thing, please keep in mind that IOS 7 while great is still no Android so don’t expect extreme freedom as Apple is still unlocking things, step by step.
A Jailbreak may or may not come but so far things are looking good and hopefully soon we wont need to Jailbreak.
BBM finally available on Friday – Saturday?
Reports across the web are pointing that the long awaited Blackberry messenger will finally hit Android this Friday followed by IOS on Saturday. This can only mean good news as many people consider BBM the ultimate chatting app considering its a mix of speed, privacy and reliability as opposite to the OPEN Whatssapp app which allows any one to contact you as long as he or she has your mobile number.
Is Linux indeed the future of PC gaming?
Gabe Newell, the founder of Steam the largest digital games distributor declares that Linux is the future PC gaming OS.
Now before we jump the gun and call the man crazy lets consider the following facts:
• Linux is FREE
• Linux is Stable
• Linux is becoming popular and cool
Now I not saying that there is anything wrong with Windows considering I’m a Mac owner but nothing stays the way it is forever. And quite frankly, Microsoft did nothing but kill PC gaming for the past few years so change and the reviewer of PC gaming is needed.
Linux is becoming easy to use day by day and the ability to run it side by side with windows was always there but will people bother?
At the end, I leave the final judgement to you.

iPhone 5s
The updated version of last years iPhone 5 is here. As always, faster, new Camera app, a new Gold color in addition to the Black and White and the first iPhone to carry the 64 bit processor. From outside, the model remains unchanged from iPhone 5. The upgrades are mostly under the hood and via features.
But the most awaited feature was the Fingerprint scanning ID. The iPhone now unlocks via scanning your fingerprint although I’m not sure if this new method is faster than the simple pass code but that remains to be tested.
The new camera app adds some interesting features such as Burst mode where you take up to 10 shot per second, better flash handling (works hand in hand with the new improved flash sensor) and a slow motion video playback to name a few. Of course the possibilities for 3rd party apps are endless.
Of course its IOS 7 read, and three casings available from apple although they are not as good as the iPhone 5c ones.
This is the updated version of iPhone’s 5, and it dose a good job at updating unlikely last years model which didn’t bring anything new to the table. I know I will be upgrading soon.
