Looking forward to sharing a friendly game of the new Call of Duty Advanced Warfare using the new PS4’s share play? Sorry you cant, Activision has despite Sony’s promise that all PS4 games are share ready disabled this feature in its latest COD. The reason is that Activision is currently testing the new feature to insure that it will benefit the game and it’s fan base.
I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but obvious greed is obvious. Call of Duty is one of the top multi platform AAA title which happens to have an online mode that enables friends and stranger to play together. Need I explain more? Just in case, share play allows a person to share his game with his or her friend meaning at least one lost sale, now imagine half the PS4’s version fan base starts doing that? 50% lost sales as in previous version each and everyone who wants to play the game be it online or off line had to purchase his own copy. Gone now, many gamers will probably come up with a shared money to buy a few copies and share play them together which means lost sales.
I understand Activision wants to generate money but frankly speaking they made enough already and instead of blocking the feature, they should have just accepted the new policy and took the hit if any. The blame is also placed on Sony for promising something and delivering something else. All games are share play ready. I hope that Activision is forced into enabling a promised feature of the PS4 without effecting the players. Sony on the other hand should act as fast as possible to avoid losing face with broken promise.
PlayStation Firmware update 2.0 is out and comes with an important yet kinda useless feature at the same time. Important and useless at the same time? Yes, continue reading.
Along with a few normal update features comes one important and unexpected to honest; Game Share. Basically, you share your game over the internet with a friend who is not necessary an owner of the same game. Meaning streaming the option for someone to play on your console while your away or watching. Now in theory this is a revolutionary idea which bring us to the days when friends gathered together. Problem is, you will need a really fast and stable internet and that is a problem for many.
Now while allot of you may have a good net, streaming requires allot of power and internet speed if I can call it that. Any slight disturbance or disconnection will effect your gameplay. The way I see it; this feature while important will be useless to many and eventually ignored. Sadly, we are just aren’t there yet. Maybe in 5 – 10 years but not now.
Cloud and streaming is becoming bigger each year and some may say will be the default way of gaming and application running in the near future and that’s something I don’t like. Yeah its cool that I can play a game I don’t own on someone else PS4 and run Photoshop in the could but physical media has a special place in my heart. Maybe I’m old fashioned but that’s the way I and many feel.
What was once an unstoppable leading force is a straggling company today. Who would have thought that Resident Evil would become absolute trash, Street Fighter a rerelease sellout and Megaman go extinct? What angers me the most is that nobody asked for this stupid change. Resident Evil was doing great, I remember waiting for part 3 and going crazy when a class mate brought it bragging. Why did Capcom completely ruin the highest selling horror game and keep insisting on going nowhere.
Why did Megaman go bye-bye when Megaman X was doing great? I ask myself what happened as I brows eBay for retro Capcom games? Would it hurt any one if Capcom released Final Fight 4 on 3DS or even Xbox live arcade?
Why do I have to replay Resident Evil Code Veronica instead of Resident Evil 6? I don’t know if anything can be done at this point but as they say; better late than never. Capcom should start making things right before its too late including and not limited to:
New Street Fighter
New 2D Megaman X style game
Port the Megaman X collection to arcade, PSN and Steam
Resident Evil 2 remake
Final Fight port or even new part
I must give credit where credit is due: Capcom is trying hard with PC gaming and is cross porting the games along with great optimization. I want Capcom to be successful as they are one of the last old school game makers that did great games. I know that we can not always control the destiny of the things or people we love but I really hope for the best.
Sony is under attack yet again. PlayStation network unstable with failed attempts to log in or do anything. Now this is not the first or even third time this has happened, so the big question is: What did Sony do to prevent this? Why is this happening? And most importantly, will this happen again?
I am not network expert and I do not claim to be a pro but clearly this has never happened to Xbox live or Steam. I was very close on placing an order for a PS4 but its things like this remind me why I am holding out.
You red it right folks, BioHazard aka Resident Evil remastered will be coming as a physical DVD this November. As hard as it is to hunt it down, it will be coming in 4 different editions for as low as $50.
It is a great news for physical lovers such as my self so we can display it with pride on our shelves. Note that the physical version is only coming to PS3 much like the physical Code veronica and Resident Evil 4.
You heard it right. Sony as a company forgot to renew one of its core websites domain resulting in most of the games to go offline as well as a number of support forums. Hold on and let that sink in. So one of the biggest companies simply forgot to renew a website contract critical to online gaming and forums?
After reading the news, all I picture is this:
Yet people still defend Sony and its dying brand of gaming that did nothing for gaming since the PS2 and keep on bashing the Xbox. Amazing news. I had hoped that this would have been a trolling article or an April’s fool news but not, its as real as Sony gets.
The upcoming PlayStation TV which can be preordered from Amazon will make its way out on December 1, 2014. To be honest I’m not sure how I feel, on one hand this Device will rival the useless Apple TV and the new Amazon box as well as have the extra of playing PS one games and even streaming PS3/PS4 as well as playing PSP Vita.
On the other hand, the main propose of the TV device is to play movies and music which I’m not so sure about just yet. How much will a single movie cost to buy/rent? How much is available? What is the DRM like? I for one cant use this or any PlayStation network product as I have a total of three user names each of a story of its own and Sony wont let you change the region.
What I’m trying to say: This product may be good on paper but in realty? We are yet to see.
Xbox one and PS4 are out and selling, the next gen has officially arrived. As a Diehard gamer, one would think I would jump on them as soon as I can and they would be right, not this time though.
There are reasons behind my decision to wait;
Now I know that the launch prices were low and all but I’m still waiting for the remembered cheaper version for Xbox One.
No first batch tittle amazed me so far. Sorry but its true, no ground breaking game was shown till no and most of the ones I do want are also available on previous gen consoles or PC.
Its no secret that I’m big on PC gaming and enjoying the best experience on most games (Batman Arkham Origins) so no rush.
I’m also a big old school retro gamer and collector as seen by my blog posts. Collection old school rare games > New Gen.
One final thing; I am in no way bashing or making fun of the new consoles and will get them sooner or later but at this point I prefer to save money on more important things and retro gaming although that could change once Gears of War 4 is announced. Game one, game right.
