Resident Evil Revelations 2 Review

Resident_Evil_revelations_2

First of all I know I’m very late to the part. Like many Resident Evil fans, I kinda lost interest in the new RE games -after RE3 to be exact- but bought the game regardless on steam. Now that’s out of the way let’s get into the quick review.

The game is amazing! Not as the old ones but better than Resident Evil 6 and 5. The atmosphere is creepy and you are actually facing a scary zombie like enemies instead of the lame plagas.

The characters swapping from Resident Evil Zero returns to form an even better connection and tag moves. Basically, you control two characters -one at a time- and must make them work together to un locks things and what not. Don’t be fooled by the younger partners and the lack of guns, each plays an important rule and Resident Evil was never about a huge gun collection.

Get back into the atmosphere, the game takes place in an abandoned Soviet Union island. The places resemble actual towns in Ukraine – where I was born- and the speaking parts do add into the story. For the first time, I was actually creeped out by the boss and the main story which was not 10/10 but a creepy one nevertheless.

Yes the PC version has a problem that I personally encountered; the out of sync story videos. Other than that, the game looked and ran fine with a 50/60 FPS considering I’m still using Core to Quad CPU and a budget GTX 750 at a 720 resolution. Capcom is really a hit and miss when it comes to porting their games. Resident Evil 5 and 6 ran perfectly while 4 ultimate HD and remastered had slow downs.

Overall, the game is great and will bring back memories of the old ones. Get it for your favorite platform and enjoy.

Resident Evil 2 Remake is official, but

resident_evil_2___remake

The awaited remake is finally official after a group of modders attempted to complete the job by themselves, great news and I am personally happy to see the project officially started but there are a few things that I’m worried about.

While Capcom is officially making the remake, the original director as well as a number of stuff who worked on the original is no longer there. And with the new guys and director taking over as well as the disasters Resident Evil 5, 6 and revelation I’m not entirely sure I want these guys to handle my childhood dream.

The Original remake was awesome and I was wishing for Resident Evil 2 and 3 to be handled the same way by the same guys. To be honest, I want the new remake to have an option for the tank controls. Keeping it old school with an option for the new generation although I’m not sure if the new generation even played the original to appreciate the remake.

All in all, I want a good old school game, not insane graphics and a bad game. Capcom, this is your chance to make things right so please do it.

What can Capcom do next?

CapcomWhat was once an unstoppable leading force is a straggling company today. Who would have thought that Resident Evil would become absolute trash, Street Fighter a rerelease sellout and Megaman go extinct? What angers me the most is that nobody asked for this stupid change. Resident Evil was doing great, I remember waiting for part 3 and going crazy when a class mate brought it bragging. Why did Capcom completely ruin the highest selling horror game and keep insisting on going nowhere.

Why did Megaman go bye-bye when Megaman X was doing great? I ask myself what happened as I brows eBay for retro Capcom games? Would it hurt any one if Capcom released Final Fight 4 on 3DS or even Xbox live arcade?

megaman x

Why do I have to replay Resident Evil Code Veronica instead of Resident Evil 6? I don’t know if anything can be done at this point but as they say; better late than never. Capcom should start making things right before its too late including and not limited to:

  • New Street Fighter
  • New 2D Megaman X style game
  • Port the Megaman X collection to arcade, PSN and Steam
  • Resident Evil 2 remake
  • Final Fight port or even new part

I must give credit where credit is due: Capcom is trying hard with PC gaming and is cross porting the games along with great optimization. I want Capcom to be successful as they are one of the last old school game makers that did great games. I know that we can not always control the destiny of the things or people we love but I really hope for the best.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 makes no sense

rv2

I’m sure that by now, many of you heard that Resident Evil Revelations 2 may be coming out. I am all for a new Resident Evil with dark atmosphere and creepy surroundings but let me explain why I think Revelations 2 makes no sense at all. The game was good, a spin off set in between Resident Evil 4 and 5. The story was decent for a side game and the environment was creepy. The monsters were kinda cool but nothing special or old school Resident Evil alike. That is the main problem, it is a side story that ended. RER2 will bring nothing more but confusion and broken side story that ended in the first one.

I understand, Capcom can and will come up with a way to tie things up. The problem is, will quality control be imposed or will we all end up with a part 2 side story that no one cared about in the first place? Capcom is in a tight corner now with financial trouble and what not. The last thing they need is this. Save the budget and release something the fans want or use the money to produce or even remake some of the classics like Final Fight and Mega Man X.  Soeaking of Megaman, I will tear eBay from inside out for the X collection as soon as I receive my next gaming budget and by receive I mean pay my bills and use part of whats left.

Any way, I hope I made it clear as of why I think that this is a bad idea. Let me know what you think.

Ultra Street Fighter IV reaction

USF4Capcom is one of my all time favorite developer with amazing games over the years, the problem is; they don’t know when to stop. This is like the 4th street fighter 4 and with the latest rumors it wont be the last. I am all up for updating games and good DLC but this is stupid. Releasing boxed version for the 4th time with only a minor change will make you look desperate and just want to milk the game to death.

screen 1

Now this edition actually has a few extra characters instead of skins so its worth mentioning all the changes:

  • Ultra Combo Double allows players to choose both of their character’s Ultra Combos at the cost of doing less damage. This gives players more options in their tactics and play styles.

  • Red Focus Attack is a Focus Attack that absorbs multiple hits. By holding the usual Medium Punch and Medium Kick buttons, plus the Light Punch button, the player’s character will flash red as they charge their Focus Attack. It is still subject to the same weaknesses as the former with Armor Breaking moves and throws.

  • Delayed Standing (similar to “Tactical Recovery” from Capcom vs. SNK 2) allows players to alter the timing of their character’s wake-up, when they are getting back on their feet. By pressing any two buttons when the character is slammed down in a hard knockdown (similar in the fashion of performing a Quick Stand), the character will take a few extra frames to get back on their feet, disrupting the wake-up game of the attacking opponent.

  • five new characters: Rolento, Elena, Hugo and Poison.

My take on the whole thing is, this should have been the first upgrade/DLC for street fighter 4. Like I said, releasing that many with more to come make you look desperate and I’m not even sure if the upgrades can sell that much considering you know that the next upgrade will be released in the near future.

Let me know what you thing, thanks for reading.

Resident Evil Remastered Complete Edition DVD is coming in November

rerps3You red it right folks, BioHazard aka Resident Evil remastered will be coming as a physical DVD this November. As hard as it is to hunt it down, it will be coming in 4 different editions for as low as $50.

It is a great news for physical lovers such as my self so we can display it with pride on our shelves. Note that the physical version is only coming to PS3 much like the physical Code veronica and Resident Evil 4.

Will update you once more news arrive.

One of the first things I notice about the Code Veronica port is that the video cut scenes are not clean and looks pixalised. The gameplay however is smooth and clean especially the menus. Apart from that and the menu not being the Dreamcast version (The best version) nothing bad to report. Xbox 360’s controller feels smooth when used on this game and the game itself is fast with no noticeable slowdowns yet. Online ranking is an add bonus. Recommended,

I did not play Resident Evil 4 yet so no comments from me but as per my brother, it is smooth with no noticeable problems.

Get them on:

Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil code veronica X

There are also other games on sale but strangely enough after buying both Resident Evils, the website gives me an error to try again later. I had problems like these before and I was hoping that they would have fixed everything by now. Lets see how things go.

Resident Evil Remastered and why does it matter

rem5Resident Evil was and still is big, no one can deny it. However, things have changed since the the fourth installment was introduced and kept going in the new direction all while facing decline. What ever true Resident Evil fan was asking for is simple; A survive horror game with zombies.

Capcom however had something else in mind ignoring the fan base and kept on pushing the copo action game. All was lost until Resident Evil Remastered was announced. Not only did this news brought joy to my heart along with most if not all Resident Evil fans, it sparked hope that the game will finally be heading back to its roots.

After the polished version of Resident Evil 4 hit Steam as Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD edition, I must say I’m looking forward to the PC version as it will most likely be the ultimate version due to the obvious reasons. Strangely enough Wii U is not included in the list but I am sure that it will make the list sometime soon. The Xbox 360 and PS4 will be 720p while the rest is 1080p but that’s hardly a deal breaker for anyone.

Resident Evil RemasteredSeen Resident Evil Remake Remastered in HD in its full glory is the biggest eye candy I have ever seen. I’m not saying the game has the best graphics or engine, what I am saying is that as an old school Resident Evil fan; it is the best HD remake that I can ever ask for.

The benefits that will make this a must own and better than the original GameCube Remake:

  • Better Controller
  • Best possible Graphics and resolution
  • Accessible to everyone on all platforms
  • New Camera
  • Better Sound
  • Achievements

and hopefully few other things like online Rankings.

The other thing I want to stress on is that should this game sell which I am sure it will; Capcom will hopefully seriously consider remaking Resident Evil 2,3 and Code Veronica as a proper Resident Evil 1 remake and make them available to all considering they will not spend on packing as it will be digital release only.

Lets hope and wait for more news on this important and great announcement.

Resident Evil 7 goes old school?

re7The supposed Resident Evil 7 image is out on the internet. It worms my heart to see the reunion of the originals as it bring back amazing memories of the amazing Resident Evil one. Remembering the golden era of the video games as well as my own memories of playing this gem.

The word is; Resident Evil 7 will be the final part of the series as its been stretched far enough. I don’t know how to react as part of me agrees that Resident Evil reached its final life part with all the failures after 3. Another part will miss new Resident Evils and will always wish for more.

Resident Evil is still my favorite horror and possible all time greatest (Resident Evil one) so letting go will not be that easy. Any way, lets hope for the best and celebrate once news is out.
