Replaying Resident Evil 5 PS3 in 2024

I still remember driving into my old video game shop in town excited to finally play Resident Evil 5 after playing the demo on Xbox 360 and being horrible at using the new controls. Originally I wanted the Xbox edition but it was out of stock and I wasn’t going to drive back home empty handed so I got the limited edition PS3 version.

Fast forward many years and I am once again playing the Xbox One remastered version coop mode with my brother. The game looked and ran great. We completed it 100% except some online challenges.

It is 2024 and I am doing a solo Resident Evil 5 run. I managed to finish the game easily on normal alone on only upgrading the shotgun. The game seemed too short this time around just like rereading the first harry potter months ago. The game still looks great and plays great. Even better than RE4 remake! While some areas aren’t that great, the game play itself is solid, even on PS3.

Playing it this way felt nostalgic and fun. It felt like we are back in 2010s. Something every gamer remembers. The gold edition includes all the DLCs and is dirt cheap on eBay. Get the 360 edition or the remaster one but do buy it and play. Doing the 100% trophies challenge as I did on the PC, 360 and Xbox One versions. Next will be the PS4. That’s how much I love and respect the old Resident Evil games.

I’m interested in what the remake will look like although I don’t like the clunky control of the 4 remake. I just unlocked the infinity Magnum so replaying it on hard mode should be easier. I like the buying systems and how buying stuff transfer to higher difficulties. All in all, an amazing game that is worth replaying in an era of meh games.

PS: Its crazy how Resident Evil 5 is now considered retro.

Retro Games prices are out of control!

I’ve been wanting to make a blog post/video about this topic for a while now. The Retro scene has been imploding for a quite some time and is reaching a critical state where people will simply say enough is enough.

Really? $650 for a used NES game? I know that some games are considered rare but common. Try searching for a used SEGA SATURN version of Street Fighter Zero 3. Normal retro games are not so cheap as well so it’s not just a rare few. And don’t get me started on the systems. I understand that old stuff goes up in prices over time as they are no longer manufactured and I appreciate old gems but I found myself asking if it is really worth continue paying ridiculous prices for those games? Especially that Emulators are available for free. I’m the type of guy that like playing on the original hardware but greedy eBay sellers are making it harder and harder to enjoy my hobby without breaking the bank.

And no, emulators are perfectly fine considering that companies no longer make money off these overpriced retro games. Re releasing old games as remasters seemed to help for awhile but not anymore. I’m not sure myself of what needs to be done other than stop paying for those overpriced games. Some blame YouTubers for talking about the hobby and bringing eyeballs on retro games. And while it is true that YouTubers bring attention to old gems and increase their price, it is not their fault that people are willing to pay an arm and a leg for anything. Enjoying something together in a healthy community should not be penalized.

What happens next is anyone’s guess but I hope that the Retro games market stabilizes itself before it’s too late. I myself am a die hard game hunter and collector but I know when to say no even though I really want that game. so Happy (Logical) game hunting everyone.

My first GTA expirance

gta3 2014-08-21 22-18-29-099

So as promised earlier on twitter, I will be starting my GTA experience from 3 and onward. Last night, I managed to install and play GTA 3 on PC of which I bought earlier on steam. To start off I set everything to high and maxed out the resolution for the best possible outcome.  Setting up Xbox 360 controller with this game takes allot of work and downloading so I used mouse and keyboard.

I noticed that something funny is going on with the screen with broken edges (aliasing) but the frame rate was stable. I got used to the sensitivity of the camera movement and hijacked my first car. As I progressed and learned the game I realized that was missing on great games. Now my brother kept on saying that this is arguably the worst GTA and that the later titles are way better I insisted on finishing this game as I like the character and the settings.

gta3 2014-08-21 22-20-48-142I am yet to use a skin but I like the way they set it up, just like every PC game should be; customizable.

gta3 2014-08-21 22-30-27-489Doing missions is kinda repetitive but that’s GTA 3 for ya. So far I hijacked a few cars and enjoyed the physics. Im still working on my aim but I guess you cant get used to everything within 30 minutes. I am looking forward to continue playing and trying  San Andreas as I already own it on the original Xbox.

gta3 2014-08-21 22-27-39-898The graphics look kinda old but playable and to be honest, I am very late to the party so cant complain. All in all, the game is enjoyable and I am sure things will get interesting along the way. I recommend it as its very cheap and fun.

PS: The comments are still broken, I receive and see them but for some reason they do not appear on the blog for everyone else. Never the less, thank you very much for the support guys. I am working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Daily Pickups: Sega Saturn Magazines acquired

It is no secret that I was and still am Sega Saturn and old school SEGA fan. It is this issue that I first picked up in the super market years ago along with it’s demo.

1I remember rushing to my Black Saturn and testing the demo using the official region free card. Boy was I amazed. I remember playing world wide soccer over a 100 times and trying to glitch my way out of the map in steep slope sliders. The days gaming was actually fun and inventing.

Fast forward to today and I managed to score some mags of my past and a couple of new ones. The reason I stopped going further is cause I don’t wanna be broke from the start as I have bills to pay and people to take care of. Never the less, these amazing gems will surly bring back the nostalgic feeling and joy to my heart.

2
Reading about the amazing Xmen vs Street Fighter after playing it in the mall.

3
Reading about Dreamcast for the first time and seeing Sonic Adventure, I got super excited and little sad cause I knew that we would not be able to afford this any time soon.

4
Bought it from the mall’s book store. The CD was missing though.

I cant say the deal was cheap but its well worth it.

Why as I holding up on getting the next gen consoles

Xbox one and PS4 are out and selling, the next gen has officially arrived. As a Diehard gamer, one would think I would jump on them as soon as I can and they would be right, not this time though.

xboxone ps4

There are reasons behind my decision to wait;

Price

Now I know that the launch prices were low and all but I’m still waiting for the remembered cheaper version for Xbox One.

Games

No first batch tittle amazed me so far. Sorry but its true, no ground breaking game was shown till no and most of the ones I do want are also available on previous gen consoles or PC.

PC Gaming

Its no secret that I’m big on PC gaming and enjoying the best experience on most games (Batman Arkham Origins) so no rush.

Retro Gaming

I’m also a big old school retro gamer and collector as seen by my blog posts. Collection old school rare games > New Gen.

One final thing; I am in no way bashing or making fun of the new consoles and will get them sooner or later but at this point I prefer to save money on more important things and retro gaming although that could change once Gears of War 4 is announced. Game one, game right.

SEGA Collection nearly complete

I think its no secret that I’m a huge SEGA -Old School- Fan. Growing up with Sega systems and games was my life. Of course back then I was just a kid so many old systems got damaged. Getting things back costs allot but I guess that’s the price I’m paying for not appreciating stuff earlier.

Any way, finally came in the mail the following:

SEGA CD X

I was torn between this and the normal Gensis with the addon CD but decided to get the CDX as fewer power adapters meant less headache plus I managed to make a deal.

Next is..

32X

Love it or hate it, you cant ignore it. The 32X may had a short run, but not without great games. I still haven’t bought a single game though – Short on cash- but are planing to grab a few with the right time and the right price.
