The Evil Within Ending Theory

The_Evil_WithinSpoiler Alert: Ending Discussion

The Evil Within’s ending is as confusing as it gets. At first all is good and simple until you realize that things are not what they seem. Lets debug it together:

Sebastian defeats Ruvik smashing his brain and wakes up from the nightmare. He then notice that everyone connected to Ruvik’s head was dead. Sebastian walks out with cops all over the place with Leslie the only survivor walking in the distance. All clear right? Wrong.

It is obvious that the game starts AFTER Sebastian was abducted -as seen by his missing photo in New Game+- and inserted into the Ruvik’s world. The supernatural things as seen through the surveillance camera is not real. Ruvik has no power in the real world.

Now before the final boss fight Ruvik finally catches Leslie and melts him presumably taking over his body in the real life. This theory explains the way Leslie walks as opposite how he used to. In short, many think that Leslie is controlled by Ruvik.

The problem with this theory is that:

  1. Why was Sebastian still having the noise headache in the real world after waking up as when he was looked up?
  2. How did Leslie disappear in seconds, let alone walkout unquestioned or stopped in front of all the cops?

My theory after searching the internet and reanalyzing is that you never leave the nightmare world. As Kidman said, nobody can ever leave. That explains the headache and the way Leslie disappeared. Its a Matrix inside a Matrix theory. Another thing to add is that before you wake up the hospital was very clean and tidy then looks deserted and broken down when you wake up.

This is the only theory that makes sense in my opinion unless we start arguing that Ruvik carried over his power into the real world which in my opinion will totally break the story. The future DLC will hopefully answer this and more like:

  1. What was the purpose of Ruvik mahcine?
  2. Why did the organization want Ruvik dead?
  3. Why send in everyone?
  4. What is this organization?

Speaking for myself; I did not like the story that much. I hate the “It was just a dream” thing in movies and games so I never was big on this game’s story. The thing that made this story kinda different is that the dream world is somehow connected to realty so not all was wasted.

Anyway, that was my take on the ending. Feel free to share your own theory in the comment section.

Nvidia CEO: Consoles are dying

Nvidia

And so I think that there’s too many other ways to enjoy games now, for the game console to enjoy the hay days of the past. But we’ll see. The thing that I do know is this, without any question is that the PC is continuing to expand the number of titles. Great titles are coming to the PC. It’s is continuing to grow and the quality of titles is growing up ever so fast. – Jen-Hsung

So unsurprisingly Nvidia CEO officially voiced his opinion on consoles and PCgaming and it makes sense. Now before you acuse me of anti consoles; I own old and new gen and game on everything from Game boy color to Xbox One. PC gaming has grown to the point were almost every type of game is available unlikely the PS2 era were PC gaming was restricted to shooters and RTS. New days, everything from platforms to sports are available on Steam, GOG or Origin as well as physical copies so there is no shortage.

PC gaming problems decreased over the years as well. Gone are the days were a game would not install or you need to configure stuff for it to work correctly . Of course, some issues are there and you will get into trouble if you don’t know what your doing but that’s very rare these days. I can simply plug in an Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller and enjoy The Evil Within on big screen and that’s exactly how I played it.

Almost always the game looks, feels and plays better on PC and once a problem is discovered you are not limited to the support of the company who made the game as the community puts up unofficial patches all the time if not even better than the official. You are not alone and people are always there to help.

Now do I think consoles will die soon? No but they will continue to decline until there is no point. Back at the day consoles were special with special games and overall feel, not they are basically PC parts put together in a box. Nintendo on the other hand is trying hard to keep the console era alive by putting out great console type games.

I enjoyed playing Sega Saturn, PS one and Dreamcast but new days I just cant get into consoles like I used to. The need to install and 15 GB patches and have problems that Pc gaming used to have turned me away. I still enjoy Nintendo, retro and 3DS but that’s about it.

I really hope that consoles go back to the way they used to be; Fun and simple.

Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed Unity issue

ubBy now, the news should be out to everyone that the newly Assassin’s Creed Unity runs very poorly and unoptimized. Surprisingly, a simple fix was discovered; disconnect the internet from your console/PC. After killing the internet the FPS should double and the game becomes playable.

How did Ubisoft not test this is beyond me. Instead of placing a review restriction and try to hide the problem, admit it or better yet, take the extra time to fix it before releasing a half finished game with full price tag. And no, this is the not the first game from Ubisoft that came out half made. Trials Evolution Gold had this problem and still to this day is not fixed or patched. Resident Evil 4 port that they did was a horrible game that made Capcom redo it all over again for the PC.

Let alone the horrible Uplay that they impose as an attempt to capture steam sales. I get it, Ubisoft needs money just as any business but releasing broken games and place restrictions is not the way to go. Games and people and general likes to buy good stuff, meaning good games with great story and gameplay and not poorly optimized, half made release.

Gamers allover the world are raging and they have every right to be. I for one, will NOT be buying this until Ubisoft starts taking gamers, the customers that put money inside their pockets more seriously and trust me, I’m not the only one. It is one thing to forgive a mistake made by a trusted company, accepting broken products and getting used to it is another.

Sometimes you just say enough is enough and that’s exactly what many are saying. Ubisoft, I love Rayman and bought it across many platforms. It was nicely done and optimized so I bought it. We are not hatters, we buy good products so make your games right. Take extra months and even years but make the game right that’s all what we are asking.

The Evil Within ending explained

the_evil_withinBefore I start, obviously spoilers! Now that you have been warned lets move on to the ending.

Now like most of you, I was looking froward to The Evil Within. I managed to finally play and finished it last night after doing some upgrades that went little bad. Any way, I have manged to complete the game and to my knowledge understand the story and ending.

The whole story basically takes place in a matrix like Ruvik’ machine. Ruvik through out the whole game is trying to find a suitable mind and body for him to capture and escape into the real world.

Just before the final fight, Leslie a kid who Ruvik seeks to capture and use his body to walk among the living in the real world is finally captured and most likely killed. Upon waking up from the dream world, you notice that all the faces you encountered throughout the game are killed except Leslie.

When you finally make it outside, you see Leslie who is now Ruvik walking away hinting at part 2.

Now I know there are many plot hols and the whole matrix thing is not really explained. What is this organization and how and why did they capture Sebastian and place him inside? To kill Ruvik? Why put him there in the first place? I was never a fan of the dream world story types but this one gets a pass cause the gameplay is fun and the story is somehow original. Now all is left to do is wait for the DLC’s and hope that whatever question you have gets answered then.

Farcry 4 pulled from Steam along with other future Ubisoft games [UPDATED]

farcry4

UPDATE: So it seems that the games are back on Steam ending the speculations and discarding this blog post. I gotta give Ubisoft respect for sorting this out and eliminating the problem I wrote bellow. The article stays as reference as its still hold information on the current status of Uplay not to mention you still need it when starting some games through Steam.

Want to preorder the latest Ubisoft games? Sure, but you will need to install and do so through Uplay. Ubisoft pulled Farcry 4, Assassins Creed Unity and The Crew from Steam but says its negotiating with Valve. First EA and now this? Lets get something straight here; Uplay is in no way near Steam or even Origin. I personally installed Uplay when I wanted to play Trials Evelution Gold Edition which I bought on Steam and apart from the slow and overall ugly interface, the game was running turtle slow even tough I can play The Evil Within fine.

Ubisoft saw Valve and EA do it and thought they would jump on the train as well. I have no problem with competition and I welcome it with open arms as long as its good. In this games, Uplay needs allot of work both on the inside and out, until then stop forcing people to use it. Better yet, keep your games on Steam AND Uplay so we as consumers can have a choice. Business is business I get it but keep in mind you cant screw the consumer and move on. Allot of us were looking forward to preordering FarCry on steam and no we wont.

The other two tittles which were pulled as well are Assassins Creed Unity and The Crew. I was looking forward to The Crew as I think it can bring a new thing to racing and open world in general but until I make sure that I will be able to enjoy the game my way without jumping through programs and logins I wont and trust me Ubisoft, I’m not the only one.

We live in the day and age of self branding hence this blog but give people a choice, you gonna get your money in any case. Sell the game through steam while slowly but surly working on Uplay until its ready and tested and people will automatically buy them through your platform, not by force. I hope Ubisoft and EA rethink this through and give us the gamers the choice we deserve.

Xbox One bundle is now $349

xbox_one_saleFor those of you still waiting to jump on the next Gen -Technically this Gen- now is your chance. Microsoft now lowered the Xbox One’s price to $349 with free game(s) and that is an amazing offer.

You can even get two full games should you go with the assassins creed bundle. True both of them are also available on Xbox 360 but with such a low price and free games it is getting harder not to take advantage. and with the saving you just made, you can go ahead and get more games like the Evil Within or even preorder Mortal Kombat 9 or Batman Arkham Knight.

This price is as low as it can get so don’t expect anything lower in the short term. Now of course if your not interested in the next Gen yet you can care less but sooner or later you will need to reconsidre to continue playing new games. More and more developers are starting to develop games for next gen only with Dying Light being a fine example. You can also get some of the pre gen games like Rayman Legends with better resolution and shorter load time not to mention The Evil Within.

Another thing I would like to point out that apart from the assassins creed bundle you will be getting the latest AAA tittles such as Sunset Overdrive and the next COD so your scoring big games for free and if for any reason you don’t like them you can trade them for something else among your friends. Not a bad deal at all.

Xbox One had a slow start but make no mistake; a stable online services aka Xbox Live + Next Gen console is never a bad thing and as more and more developers starts jumping aboard the console will soon be over populated with AAA games.

Just a reminder: Offer ends January 3rd 2015.

PlayStation 4 firmware 2.0 brings game share

Psn-logo2

PlayStation Firmware update 2.0 is out and comes with an important yet kinda useless feature at the same time. Important and useless at the same time? Yes, continue reading.

Along with a few normal update features comes one important and unexpected to honest; Game Share. Basically, you share your game over the internet with a friend who is not necessary an owner of the same game. Meaning streaming the option for someone to play on your console while your away or watching. Now in theory this is a revolutionary idea which bring us to the days when friends gathered together. Problem is, you will need a really fast and stable internet and that is a problem for many.

Now while allot of you may have a good net, streaming requires allot of power and internet speed if I can call it that. Any slight disturbance or disconnection will effect your gameplay. The way I see it; this feature while important will be useless to many and eventually ignored. Sadly, we are just aren’t there yet. Maybe in 5 – 10 years but not now.

Cloud and streaming is becoming bigger each year and some may say will be the default way of gaming and application running in the near future and that’s something I don’t like. Yeah its cool that I can play a game I don’t own on someone else PS4 and run Photoshop in the could but physical media has a special place in my heart. Maybe I’m old fashioned but that’s the way I and many feel.

Let me know what you guys think.

What can Capcom do next?

CapcomWhat was once an unstoppable leading force is a straggling company today. Who would have thought that Resident Evil would become absolute trash, Street Fighter a rerelease sellout and Megaman go extinct? What angers me the most is that nobody asked for this stupid change. Resident Evil was doing great, I remember waiting for part 3 and going crazy when a class mate brought it bragging. Why did Capcom completely ruin the highest selling horror game and keep insisting on going nowhere.

Why did Megaman go bye-bye when Megaman X was doing great? I ask myself what happened as I brows eBay for retro Capcom games? Would it hurt any one if Capcom released Final Fight 4 on 3DS or even Xbox live arcade?

megaman x

Why do I have to replay Resident Evil Code Veronica instead of Resident Evil 6? I don’t know if anything can be done at this point but as they say; better late than never. Capcom should start making things right before its too late including and not limited to:

  • New Street Fighter
  • New 2D Megaman X style game
  • Port the Megaman X collection to arcade, PSN and Steam
  • Resident Evil 2 remake
  • Final Fight port or even new part

I must give credit where credit is due: Capcom is trying hard with PC gaming and is cross porting the games along with great optimization. I want Capcom to be successful as they are one of the last old school game makers that did great games. I know that we can not always control the destiny of the things or people we love but I really hope for the best.

So whats happening?

I apologies for not blogging much during the last two weeks. I had a few things going like finishing Resident Evil 6 and starting 4 on the Xbox 360, sorting my eBay purchases which are yet to arrive and some other things.

I was planing to get a PS4 and later Xbox One but decided to give it more time since no big games are coming out that are not available on the PC. I will be placing an Evil Within preorder on my Xbox 360 until I decide what to do next.

I have also placed an order for a replacement CPU for my brothers old rig which is yet to arrive.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
AMD Athlon 64 3200+

Other than that, Crash Team racing also arrived which I think is the best vs racing game on any system including Mario Cart.

Crash Team Racing

Im still searching eBay components for my new Rig but may grab a rare Saturn game or two in the process. So how is everyone? Keep Gaming and have fun.

DirectX 12 coming to Windows 10

Unreal 4 Engine 4.4 Supports DirectX 12!

So as expected, the upcoming Windows 10 will have DX12. Technically, DX12 can make things better and smother on development side. Still not sure on the upgrade but things looking good on the gaming side. I’m waiting for more information and actual test before deciding on getting windows 10 but like I said, exiting PC gaming days are ahead of use if and only if developers started to use the full power of PC gaming instead of using the bench mark set by PS4 and Xbox One.

I’m currently building a new PC and thinking of going 64 now that 4GB is becoming standard and newer games may require more soon. Will update you all once actual testing takes place. Hoping that Microsoft starts taking PC gaming seriouse again.
